At 11pm tonight, the Tropical DISTURBANCE was centered near latitude 7.9 North, longitude 52.4 West, with an associated 1005mb low pressure. The disturbance has a high chance of becoming Tropical Storm Bret later tonight or Monday, before reaching St. Vincent and the Grenadines Monday evening into Tuesday. The disturbance was about 540miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands moving toward the west near 23 mph (37 km/h) and expected to cross over our islands Monday evening and Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds of near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts on the northern side of the system. Storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km), mainly northwest through northeast of the center. Projections are for the center to pass 180miles south of mainland St. Vincent. This means, that the Grenadines Islands can expect storm conditions and mainland St. Vincent could be placed on he dangerous northern side of the system. Expected Conditions across St. Vincent and the Grenadines late Monday into Tuesday •Deteriorating conditions with pockets of moderate to heavy showers, locally heavy rains, thunderstorms, occasional gusty winds by Monday evening •Rainfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches (100 to 200 mm) could cause Flash-flooding and land slippage •Very strong NORTH-EAST winds reaching tropical storm force 45mph or 40kt (73km/h) by Monday night turning to SOUTH-SOUTHEAST 55mph or 50kt (87 km/h) by Tuesday morning •Seas Moderate (1.8-2.5m) by Monday afternoon on east coast; Very rough to high becoming 6.0m- 7.0m (19-23 ft) across SVG by Monday night into early Tuesday, with easterly swells Saint Vincent Meteorological Services and Barbados Meteorological Services are monitoring the system and will provide updates, watches or warnings as necessary....Next update: 6am tomorrow Monday.
