She also highlighted the types of abuses some of these women encounter which include physical, verbal and sexual abuse. International Day to end violence against women is being observed under the theme “Working with Men and Boys.” A new BBC series is actively encouraging women from across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to apply for a brand new travel adventure series which will be broadcast on the BBC next year. If you are at a crossroads in your life and believe that walking in a British woman’s shoes for a week might help you make some big decisions, then please do get in touch! We will send the successful applicant to a mystery destination somewhere in the UK, and whilst you are there, your British counterpart will come to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and live YOUR life! For approximately one week, you will live in each other’s world: spend time with each other’s friends and family, experience each other’s work routine, try each other’s hobbies and interests and get to know each other’s countries through the lens of a local rather than a tourist. Hopefully both you and your swap will gain the perspective you need to move forward in your life with a new confidence and certainty! If this sounds like something you might benefit from and you can make yourself available for 7-10 days filming at the end of November/beginning of December 2016, then please get in touch ASAP by sending your name/age/location/marital status/children (if applicable) and a brief description of your dilemma to [email protected] and we’ll send you an application form straight back. Submitted by BBC So the whale swallowed Jonah, or was it a big fish? - Ruth Constance I rationalize my approach to the Bible. The most important bits to me directly relate to the character of God, the origin of man, how man was deceived, the story of Jesus and those that directly affect my faith. Minor details such as whether it was an apple or pear; or whether it was a whale, shark or manatee do not fluster me. However, as a faith, I know we have to "defend" our Bible. That is why we have a whole branch of theology for apologetics. The thing is, I believe most people who pursue the finer details about every story and has questions about everything have a very fundamental issue. They lack Faith. They believe that their intellect and knowledge must line up with their faith. Truth be told, that pursuit is a bottomless pit and at some point, you have to have faith. If the identity of a sea animal hinders your faith, then you have a more serious issue. I am more concerned about how I should live and what God wants for my life. Can you imagine if our kids pestered us with questions about everything as a pre-requisite for their obedience and trust? They can't even comprehend the truth even if you told them. It creates more questions than answers and would keep them in a constant state of confusion. If that were the case, our children would never follow us or our instructions. They would be skeptical about everything. Like a child, that is exactly where my faith starts, "Who created me?". Who is my creator? The Bible (and the Torah) is the only book and Christianity (and Judaism) is the only religion that claims God is my creator. The only alternative there is is evolution and that is a farce. Now, back to the Bible. The Bible says that it is the inspired word of God. Who wrote those words? A man. Not God directly. A man who claims he was inspired by God and that the entire word of God which was not even written in his lifetime is unequivocally inspired by God. As a matter of fact, the Bible wasn't even put together when those words were written. The first Biblical cannon was put together decades after his death. He did not even know what the scholars would put together. The point is here, there is no way to believe the Bible without Faith. Indeed, there are secret things. Things that we may not understand. Things that God will not divulge. I am fine with that. I don't need to understand and know every detail. Theologians don't either. However, we are grateful for their research, faith and efforts to shed light on Biblical truths. by Ayodele Pompey CEO-Digital Spark Global Assistant Registrar - Caribbean Examinations Council Christmas just got a whole lot easier!
