On Wednesday, June 14th, 2017, the Simon Bolivar School vessel arrived for the first time in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as part of its twenty-ninth instructional Cruise. Under the command of Captain Alfonso de Gregorio Meléndez, a crew of 186 officers and cadets of the Venezuelan Navy, as well as guests from Suriname, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Panama, arrived at the Port of Kingstown with the purpose of strengthening ties of friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of Venezuela and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

During its stay in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines many schools and general public had the opportunity to go onboard and get to know this beautiful ship, its operation and its history. The cadets and other crew members of the vessel held friendly games of football and softball with Vincentian teams as part of the exchange promoted by the Simon Bolivar school vessel in each of the countries that it visits. They also visited places of tourist interest such as the Botanical Garden and Fort Charlotte, among others. During a ceremony offered on the Vessel last Thursday June 15th, the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. The Honourable Ralph Gonsalves, expressed his joy for the visit of this vessel that represents the bonds of brotherhood between our peoples, which since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution and the Government of the ULP have become much stronger. The vessel sailed on Sunday, June 18th at 09:00 AM, after being in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines one more day than expected due to the meteorological conditions in the region, thus continuing with the schedule of visits until the next 08 of July to the port of La Guaira, Venezuela |
