I like to think of my birthday as special. I mean who doesn’t right? Either way, my birthday is celebrated worldwide. Not really but yes. Maybe one day. No matter, It’s an extra special day. March 8th, International Women’s Day! IWD. Don’t worry, these posts are not about me. We are going to focus on two young ladies in the OECS that I believe is worth celebrating. But first, a little history lesson. In a couple of days, the entire world will be celebrating this day. International Women's Day is commended on March 8 consistently. It is a point of convergence in the development of ladies' rights. After the Socialist Party of America composed a Women's Day on February 28, 1909, in New York, the 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference recommended a Women's Day be held every year. According to the United Nations, International Women's Day is an opportunity to ponder "progress made", to call for change and to praise demonstrations of boldness and assurance by ordinary ladies who have assumed an unprecedented job in the history of their nations and communities. The 2019 theme for IWD “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”, centres around inventive manners by which we can propel sex uniformity and the strengthening of ladies, especially in the zones of social security frameworks, access to open administrations and manageable foundation.
I did promise you a feature on two beautiful young ladies and I always keep my word… However, you will have to check back here during the week to get to know these ordinary ladies who are doing extraordinary things in the OECS.
