When packed with electronics and sensors to monitor, expect the car to flash those warning signals, every time something goes wrong while driving. It is called Car Dashboard warning lights that lets you drive much safer on the roads. So, how it works? Well, as soon as something goes wrong in the car, one or the other feature gets activated on the dashboard. This activates the signal funnels through the electrical system, illuminating a hieroglyphic, which is then displayed on the dashboard to the driver. Car Dashboard Warning Lights: Symbols and their MeaningsThe dashboard is full of symbols, which may differ slightly in different cars. But, most of the vehicle’s dashboard will represent the same meaning, displaying almost the same icons right there. While some lights could portend a serious malfunction, here are explained some important signals which you should not be ignoring anyway. If you’re an entrepreneur you have heard the million reasons not to go into business: It’s too risky, you might go into debt, you’ll probably lose sleep, your social life is kaput, and the list goes on. But even with all these uncertainties, people are still attracted to the startup world. There are just as many, if not more reasons to take the leap and go start your own business. Besides having JSR Communications and all our services here to help you, here are just a few reasons to start now: 1. Spare time. This one can take some time. Initially you’ll work longer hours for less pay. But if you do it right, you could start to master your schedule and the freedom that being an entrepreneur provides is awesome. 2. A story to tell. Whenever I tell someone I run my own business, they always want to know what I do, how I do it and how it’s going. I always am able to provide a tale or two, and the best part is that I get to determine the story's chapters. (When working for a corporation, people most likely have less input.) 3. Tax benefits. For entrepreneurs (freelancers included), they have the opportunity to take advantage of some nice tax perks. Many can write off expenses like travel, food, phone bills, portions of car payments, and the list goes on. Also, certain startups qualify for government incentives. Make sure to ask your accountant about what tax benefits you may be eligible for. 4. Pride. When you build something successful, it’s a great feeling. You had a vision, were able to execute it and not can reap the benefits of saying "I did this." On the other hand, it’s tough to be proud of the zillionth request for proposal you fill out for your employer. 5. Your posterity. If you’re a doctor, plumber or bus driver it’s hard to imagine you passing your career on to your loved ones. But if you own your own business, that’s something you can pass on to the next generation. And be proud of it, because you created it. 6. Job security. Have you ever been laid off, downsized, or fired? If you have, you get this. With entrepreneurship the security lies in the fact you are your own boss. You run the show and don't have to worry about getting let go. 7. Networking. Entrepreneurs are communal creatures. We love to meet each other, swap stories, and learn from each other’s experiences. Your circle of friends and acquaintances always grows when you become an entrepreneur, as many founders need others to lean on to survive and talk about the challenges only known to them. 8. Doing good. While this isn’t exclusive to entrepreneurs, it’s definitely a perk. You control where your company profits go and if you choose, you can give allocate your financial gains to others. You can sponsor a charity, a non-profit or just personally give back to the community. This is quite honestly one of the best parts of being an entrepreneur. 9. Novelty. We, as humans, love new experiences but rarely can you experience a host of new things from inside your cubicle. This all changes when you are running the show. Starting your own business will ensure you’ll always be facing new challenge and experiencing something new. 10. Mentorship. Having had mentors and getting to be a mentor have been some of the best experiences of my life. Learning from the masters and getting to help those less experienced than you gives you such a sense of satisfaction. From my experience (and other's stories) the entrepreneurial community is very willing to give back and lend a helping hand. 11. Becoming an expert. This point goes along with mentorship. Regardless of what you do as an entrepreneur, if you stick with it, you’ll probably become very good at it. And this gives you a sort of soapbox, so use it. You'll have the chance to be interviewed for your expertise, write about it and get to spread your message. 12. Skills. People ask me how I learned about SEO, social media, pay-per-click, PR and all the other marketing techniques I utilize. I tell them that I was forced to learn them, otherwise I wouldn't survive. The same way I was forced to learn how to build a spreadsheet, how to balance a budget, how to negotiate leases and countless other skills I picked up because I was the only resource I had. While developing new skills can be tough and takes times, it can pay off in spades. These skills will be invaluable throughout your life. 13. Determination. Everything I’ve done as an entrepreneur has affected me in my personal life. I used to be poor at committing to changes. But having been an entrepreneur for over a decade has forced me to become dedicated and determined to causes. (Now I can stick to an exercise plan much easier.) I’m also better at being a father and husband because of that determination I learned. 14. Recognition. There are literally thousands of local, regional and national awards that recognize entrepreneurs in every field and industry. This shouldn’t be your only reason to start your business, but it certainly is a great feeling when you receive this recognition. 15. Financial independence. Let’s be honest, this is probably the biggest reason people get into business for themselves. And that’s a good thing! You should want financial independence. However you define financial independence – retirement stockpile, unlimited cash potential or having the money to buy what you want -- entrepreneurship can allow you to achieve it. Trust me, money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does make finding happiness much easier. 16. Reinvention. I’ve started and sold several companies over my career. And every time I sell a company, I’m presented with an opportunity to reinvent myself all over again. On the flip side, if I had received my law degree, I’d be a lawyer (not a lot of room to recreate myself). But as an entrepreneur, I get to be whatever I want to be. 17. Change the world. Everyone jokes that every entrepreneur says they’re going to change the world. It’s difficult to imagine how a cell phone accessory kiosk in the mall is going to change the world. But there are those that do succeed. Take a look at Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Sergey Brin, and the countless other entrepreneurs who really have changed the world in some small (or major) way. 18. Create jobs. There’s nothing like the satisfaction of knowing you’re responsible for the success of your employees. Your ideas provided them the opportunity to earn a living, provide for their family and fulfill their own dreams. 19. Your brand. Being known for something is awfully enjoyable. People may start referring to you as the marketing guy, or the retail maven or the software guru. Whatever it is you’re recognized as, it’s fun to build that brand and earn that recognition. 20. Your reason. I’ve given you a list of why I think you should get into business. But all that really matters is your reason to start your own business. So, what is it? Tweet out this story and add your reason. Comment below and share with us why you did it. I know it will be a good one. As far back as Ancient Egypt, advertising has served a critical purpose in the business world by enabling sellers to effectively compete with one another for the attention of buyers. Whether the goods and services your company provides are a necessity, a luxury or just a bit of whimsy, you can't rely on a one-time announcement or word-of-mouth chatter to keep a steady stream of customers. A strong commitment to advertising is as much an external call to action as it is an internal reinforcement to your sales team. Concept and Copy." It can be anything from an upcoming entertainment event you're promoting, a new product line you're selling, a political campaign you're managing, the expansion of an existing platform of services or officially hanging out a shingle for your first business. Whether your promotion takes the form of print ads, commercials, billboards or handbills, the content adheres to the rules of journalism by identifying who, what, when, where and why. AWARENESS Advertising helps to raise your target demographic's awareness of issues with which they may be unfamiliar as well as educate them on the related benefits of your product or service. A popular example of this is the health care industry. If, for instance, a consumer watches a television commercial in which someone describes aches and pains that are similar to those experienced by the viewer, the ad not only identifies a probable cause but suggests a potential remedy or treatment option to discuss with her doctor. COMPARISONS Advertising invites your target audience to evaluate how your product or service measures up against your competitors, says Gerard Tellis, author of "Effective Advertising: Understanding When, How, and Why Advertising Works." Demonstrations of household cleaning products are a good example of this because they provide compelling visual evidence of which product does a faster and more effective job of tackling stubborn stains. Political ads are another example of how advertising serves up side-by-side comparisons of the candidates' qualifications and voting records for readers and viewers to make informed choices at the polls. RETENTION An ongoing advertising campaign is essential in reminding your existing customers that you're still around, say Kenneth Roman and Jane Maas, authors of "How to Advertise." In a troubled economy where so many shops, restaurants and companies are going out of business, maintaining a strong presence through regular ads, fliers, postcards, events and a dynamic website is invaluable for long-term relationships. This also serves to attract new customers who may not have been in need of your products or services when you first opened but are now pleased to have their memories jogged. By: Chelcia Ferdinand CARICOM (Female) Youth Ambassador St. Vincent & the Grenadines On February 14, 2017, the beautiful Caribbean nation of St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG), will see the official opening of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) - the first of its kind in the history of the 32-island archipelago. The AIA is a key part of the Government of SVG's vision to create the right local conditions for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the local economy - with key investment opportunities in Tourism, International Financial Services, Agriculture & Fisheries, the Creative Industries, and Light Manufacturing. With plans to decommission the country's current airport site once operations commence at the AIA - making way for the proposed development of a modern city - a bounty of investment opportunities are likely to arise along the 14 km corridor connecting the old and new airport sites, and the current capital city, Kingstown. With plans to develop a new city that reflects the goals and aspirations, while meeting the needs of the local population, consideration will likely be given to the conversion of Kingstown into a cultural capital, with a focus on preserving the city's history while drastically improving its aesthetics and ergonomics. The continued facilitation of the Government's drive to attract FDI over the medium-term, will demand improved infrastructure along major existing transportation routes, supplemented by new alternative routes and modes of public transportation. These and more will be discussed in an upcoming article highlighting key opportunities and challenges for urban development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. But for now, please join me in celebrating this historic moment in my nation's history. The leading generals include: Stacey Lyttle, Jason Providence, Ronnie Richardson, HHC and many more... Come armed with your praises, prayer and worship! See you there! by Caywama Edwards There are so many things that call for thorough checking and asking around. The idea of just looking at the vehicle and a second before you know it you would have already clicked that button is long gone. But of course, there are exceptional circumstances of having had dealt with them before and experience also plays a key role. However, the most important thing that one has to do first thing first is to check the reliability of the car dealer that is offering that unit to you. Most of the people have lost huge sums of money due to lack of security precautions on their part. The existence of online car dealers has also created opportunities for fraudsters to take advantage of individuals who are unaware of certain procedures to swindle them of cash. 1. Background ResearchTherefore whenever you intend to buy a car online do some background research online and check whether a lot of people are actually buying from them, if they do then know that you are in good hands and your unit should safely reach your destination. The other issue that you can look at is the address of the company and banking details for the same. If someone is telling you to deposit funds into another company or individual account, the best you can do for yourself is to take off and abandon everything, as that is a clear indication of fraud. Most instances people who intend to swindle you of cash do not really want to disclose personal and physical address, as they fear of being traced and arrested. 2. Interior/exterior featuresApart from that the location and state of condition of the unit is also another area of concern. Always check the interior and exterior of the unit before you buy it, as that is very important. It’s not uncommon to see only one photo displayed on the unit with the rest of them not fully displayed. Always ask for more pictures if that is the case and thoroughly go through them to check if there are any dents, scratches on the exterior or damages to the interior. Some vehicles come without any radios, CD drive, speakers, spare tyre, fire extinguisher, etc., so be sure to check that out. 3. Vehicle SpecificationsThis is very much important in the sense that whenever you are about to purchase a unit always check out the specifications table as that can really tell you a lot about the unit that you are considering to buy. Buying a car just for the sake of owning one can really put you in unnecessary pressure as the specifications table clearly highlights certain things such as the engine capacity of the unit, engine number, chassis number, engine capacity, etc. These are very important as they are very much needed in car registration and also tell you something about the consumption rate of the vehicle. If your eyesight is really that good then you can also compare the actual photos of the engine with the chassis number, engine number on the specification table. 4. Condition of TyresThese are really necessary and as a safety precaution always get a unit that has neat and good tyres as that can really help you to save a bit considering the fact that you would have spent a lot when importing the same in your country. Good tyres should have enough grips and should not have cracks either on the sides or in between grip lines. 5. Suspension/springs of the unitThough it’s pretty hard to see how well the suspension and springs of the vehicles are, a good photo taken by a professional should be able to clearly show a third of these and at least highlight the state of condition of these. However, certain car dealers also do make mention of any certain replacements and changes that they might have carried out prior to being put up for sale. So do ask for some additional information on any changes to parts. Lastly, another thing that one can check out is the list of extra features that are always indicated on the main display for the unit. These can also be compared with the actual photos just to ensure that what is mentioned is also appearing in the photos. Basically the main reasons and points that I have put up should be able to help and guide but it must be stated here that whenever you are looking at a unit always ask whatever question that might pop up in your mind as at the end of it all the one who would get to drive the unit is yourself so feel free to ask any questions. Written by Mutimba Musonda Zambia. So the whale swallowed Jonah, or was it a big fish? - Ruth Constance I rationalize my approach to the Bible. The most important bits to me directly relate to the character of God, the origin of man, how man was deceived, the story of Jesus and those that directly affect my faith. Minor details such as whether it was an apple or pear; or whether it was a whale, shark or manatee do not fluster me. However, as a faith, I know we have to "defend" our Bible. That is why we have a whole branch of theology for apologetics. The thing is, I believe most people who pursue the finer details about every story and has questions about everything have a very fundamental issue. They lack Faith. They believe that their intellect and knowledge must line up with their faith. Truth be told, that pursuit is a bottomless pit and at some point, you have to have faith. If the identity of a sea animal hinders your faith, then you have a more serious issue. I am more concerned about how I should live and what God wants for my life. Can you imagine if our kids pestered us with questions about everything as a pre-requisite for their obedience and trust? They can't even comprehend the truth even if you told them. It creates more questions than answers and would keep them in a constant state of confusion. If that were the case, our children would never follow us or our instructions. They would be skeptical about everything. Like a child, that is exactly where my faith starts, "Who created me?". Who is my creator? The Bible (and the Torah) is the only book and Christianity (and Judaism) is the only religion that claims God is my creator. The only alternative there is is evolution and that is a farce. Now, back to the Bible. The Bible says that it is the inspired word of God. Who wrote those words? A man. Not God directly. A man who claims he was inspired by God and that the entire word of God which was not even written in his lifetime is unequivocally inspired by God. As a matter of fact, the Bible wasn't even put together when those words were written. The first Biblical cannon was put together decades after his death. He did not even know what the scholars would put together. The point is here, there is no way to believe the Bible without Faith. Indeed, there are secret things. Things that we may not understand. Things that God will not divulge. I am fine with that. I don't need to understand and know every detail. Theologians don't either. However, we are grateful for their research, faith and efforts to shed light on Biblical truths. by Ayodele Pompey CEO-Digital Spark Global Assistant Registrar - Caribbean Examinations Council "On the 20th to 23rd October the Titans Aquatic International swim meet was held at the Barbados Aquatic Centre. He also commented on the significance of Alex Joachim’s swimming times, stating that Alex’s times place him in the top 5.7% of the boys in the 12year age group within the whole of the United States of America. A great indication of the high standard of swimming coming out of St Vincent and the Grenadines" |
