Some people say that "healthy" weight loss means losing one to two pounds per week. So if you're losing more - or less - than that, are you doing something wrong? The Truth: There is no such thing as “losing weight too fast.” As long as you’re consuming a healthy amount of calories by eating nutritious foods and exercising more, you’ll lose weight at an appropriate speed for your body. A lot of people have different versions of what "healthy" weight loss might look like. The truth is that the answer isn't so cut and dry. Weight loss occurs differently for everyone and that's okay. Here's why: It’s not the speed at which you lose weight that matters, it’s the method. I’ve had success after success of taking more than 100 pounds off people, and they’ve kept it off for years. It’s the way you lose the weight that is the most crucial part! If you’ve lost weight through exercise and clean eating — it shouldn’t be a problem for you to maintain your weight loss. On the flip side, if you’ve lost weight by more extreme measures, like starvation, cleanses, or crazy crash diets — it’s much more likely all the weight you lost will come right back just as quickly. Dropping the pounds quickly may give you more motivation to stick to your weight-loss plan. A recent study from the University of Florida revealed that losing weight quickly in the early stages of a weight-loss program may be more beneficial, over the long term, both for losing the weight and keeping it off. The researchers found that those who lost weight quickly were five times more likely to achieve clinically significant weight loss in 18 months than those who lost weight at a slower rate. Losing weight quickly helps to reinforce that the behaviors you’re changing are working. When you can see and feel the results of your efforts, it helps to keep you motivated! Keeping weight off is a matter of maintenance. Weight maintenance is something that confuses a lot of people and causes them to struggle. They often feel if they don’t continue to work out as hard and diet as fastidiously, they will gain their weight back. This is not the case. While you should still count calories, eat healthy food, and continue to exercise, you don’t have to be so rigorous. For weight management, you simply need to eat the same amount of calories you are burning — rather than create a calorie deficit. In fact, weight management should actually be easier for that reason alone. The Bottom Line: There’s nothing wrong with dropping pounds quickly — as long as you’re doing it smartly. Losing weight more quickly may give you more motivation to keep going, though it doesn’t really matter how many pounds you lose a week. The only thing that matters is the method you’re using to experience weight loss and how well you follow your maintenance plan. By: Jullian Michaels Fiitness Expert There are currently 21 meat production companies under investigation by the Brazilian Federal Police and only 6 have exported products within the last 60 days and NONE of these exports were made directly to St. Vincent and the Grenadines or to the United States, from where most of the corned beef and poultry is sourced. The companies that exported to these countries are not under investigation and operate within all licensing and health regulations. The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has a rigorous inspection service for animal products with permanent auditing, monitoring and risk assessment. The Brazilian Government is auditing establishments mentioned in the Federal Police investigation into allegations of irregularities in the agricultural inspection system. Of the 21 units under investigation, 3 have already had their operations suspended and all 21 have been placed under a special inspection regime conducted by a specific task force of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA). The investigation in question involves a marginal percentage, only 1%, of all meat exports. Brazil has 4,837 establishments which produce meat products. Of these establishments, which are subject to federal inspection, only 21 (0.2% of the total) are alleged to have been involved in irregularities, and of the over 11,000 employees in the agricultural inspection system, only 33 (0.3%) are being investigated by the Federal Police for possible irregularities. That means that 99.8% of registered companies and 99.7% of inspectors are not involved in the allegations under investigation. The Embassy of Brazil is in contact with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for any clarification on the matter. All production plants remain open to inspection visits by importing countries who wish to visit exporting companies to clear up any doubts which they may have. Brazil is the most interested party in resolving and clarifying these issues, and in having the current unilateral ban lifted. Now, JSR Communications is sharing some information on how you can get rid of those annoying roaches! We've tested it. It works! Our team actually went around garbage bins and... yeah, not saying anything else. We found the information healthy holistic living website and had a go at it. The information here isn't ours, but we thought you would like to try it too. So, roaches... They are probably the only dinasours left... alive any way. You may discover them anywhere in the world as their adaptability is extremely established. They are among the most resistant types in the world as they support high levels of radiation and can even live without food for more than a month at a time. These insects are omnivores, eating both plant-based and animal-based foods. For these reasons we can find cockroaches everywhere, feeding upon almost anything they find. Cockroaches leave chemical trace markers in their droppings. With this method, others can easily find sources of water or food. This is a leading method of communication between them which one main reason why they can quickly infest an area. Remarkable, I know… However, we will help you to get rid of these nasty bugs at last! If you want to get rid of cockroaches that are in your home, we advise that you try this trick which is very efficient. This is a good option if you have kids or family pets, because you will avoid commercial and dangerous toxins. If you are going to do this in your home tho... (yes I used short hand. Everybody's doing it. any ways...) you will have leaves to clean up ever so often. Bay leaves are the very best natural cockroach repellent. This herb can’t eliminate them, however it does drives them away quickly since the smell is unbearable for the cockroach. Place laurel branches in every corner of the house. Place 10 bay leaves in the garden or in the kitchen area and you will never ever see cockroaches strolling around. They are perfect for areas where food is stored such as the kitchen or pantry since they are safe and non-toxic. Likewise, we recommend putting bay leaves in your garden especially if you have a pet. This way you will eliminate cockroaches without worrying about your kids or animals security. You can use fresh bay leaves or dry. But the best way to use these leaves is to crush dry leaves and make a powder. They create a much stronger smell used by doing this. The Prevention gap report shows that while significant progress is being made in stopping new HIV infections among children (new HIV infections have declined by more than 70% among children since 2001 and are continuing to decline), the decline in new HIV infections among adults has stalled.
The Prevention gap report shows that an estimated 1.9 million adults have become infected with HIV every year for at least the past five years and that new HIV infections among adults are rising in some regions. The Prevention gap report gives the clear message that HIV prevention efforts need to be increased in order to stay on the Fast-Track to ending AIDS by 2030.
The AIDS epidemic has had a huge impact over the past 35 years. Since the start of the epidemic, 35 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses and an estimated 78 million people have become infected with HIV. 1.2% OF THE POPULATION IS HIV POSITIVE A total of 1.2 percent of this nation’s adult population is reported to be HIV positive. This according to information received from Epidemiologist, Tamara Bobb. Bobb while speaking at a ceremony last Thursday where the Ministry of health, Wellness and the Environment launched activities for World AIDS Day indicated that they will continue to work to lower this number over the next five years. Reports have indicated that currently 1.2 percent of the adult population that is the 15-49 year age group, or 0.7 percent of the total population is HIV positive. Bobb has been quoted as saying that the draft national health sector strategic plan crafted to guide the activities of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment over the next five years outlines two specific targets as it relates to reducing the incidence of HIV and AIDS and improving the quality of life for persons living with this disease. SVG HAS THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF HIV PERSONSStatistics from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS has revealed that St. Vincent has the highest number of people living with HIV and AIDS in the Eastern Caribbean. This as the report stated, that some 800 people are infected with the sexually transmitted disease. Statistics from the UNAIDS Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS also revealed that more than 500 people are living with HIV / AIDS in Saint Lucia, representing the second highest figure in the Eastern Caribbean. These findings were revealed by Latin America and Caribbean Regional Support Team Director for UNAIDS Dr. Cesar Nunez who provided data from the UNAIDS Caribbean Summary of the AIDS epidemic in 2015. The remaining Eastern Caribbean countries have approximately 150-300 persons living with HIV and two percent of the people living with HIV in the Caribbean reside in the Eastern Caribbean. St. Kitts and Nevis and Dominica are closest to achieving the 90-90-90 targets, reporting fewer than 20 new HIV infections and fewer than 10 AIDS-related deaths annually over the last five years. Through the widespread expansion of anti retroviral treatment for mothers living with HIV, there have been dramatic declines in HIV transmission to children. Cuba led the world by becoming the first country to be validated last year by the World Health Organization as having eliminated this form of HIV transmission. St. Vincent has made leaps and bounds in the mother to child transmission. The Ministry of Health in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on said Tuesday that there has been an increase, recently, in the number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but did not disclose any figures. The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is advising Vincentians, particularly school administrators and parents, to be cautious in how they deal with the cases, to minimize a further outbreak. According to a release from the Ministry of Health, Tuesday, the symptoms usually include fever, sore throat, reduced appetite, painful sores in the mouth, with blisters on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Blisters may also appear on the knees, elbows, buttocks or genital area. The disease commonly occurs in children under 5 years of age, but a milder form of the disease may also develop in older children and adults. Parents are advised to seek medical attention to help manage symptoms. The release further stated that “children can become infected through personal contact, such as hugging, kissing, sharing cups and utensils, with other infected children or adults. The virus that causes HFMD can also be spread through coughing and sneezing, contact with nose and throat secretions (such as saliva, sputum, or nasal mucus), blister fluid, and feces (for example when changing a diaper). The Ministry further advises that HFMD is highly contagious and urges parents to care for children at home and away from other children for a period of 7-10 days, or until the infection resolves”. “The Senior Nursing Officer/Community Nursing Service, Sr. Cecile James-Samuel, notes that the best method of prevention is regular hand washing with soap and water for children and their care givers. Disinfecting surfaces, including toys and doorknobs, can help to minimize and control the spread of the disease” – the release further stated. Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience polyuria (frequent urination), they will become increasingly thirsty (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia). Here are some Diabetes health tips that are sure to help you.

Trinidad & Tobago’s Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has arranged to meet with public health inspectors to underscore the need to enforce regulations related to the fight against the mosquito-borne Zika virus. During a post-Cabinet news conference on Thursday, the Health Minister expressed concern that Trinidadians and the global population has been taking the Zika outbreak “too lightly”. “We need to step up the campaign,” he said, adding that in order to do this, fines for unkempt lots, which could harbour breeding sites for mosquitoes, have been increased from TT$350 to TT$3,500. He said if the population does not partner with the Government, “we will not win this fight with Zika”. So far, the number of confirmed cases of the virus in the twin island republic is 335 — and, according to the health minister, this could be just “the tip of the iceberg”. Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years. In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs ("foreign invaders," like the flu). Normally our immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from these invaders. Autoimmune means your immune system cannot tell the difference between these foreign invaders and your body’s healthy tissues ("auto" means "self") and creates autoantibodies that attack and destroy healthy tissue. These autoantibodies cause inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body. Lupus is also a disease of flares (the symptoms worsen and you feel ill) and remissions (the symptoms improve and you feel better). |
