ProjectMEN2020 joins the global community in the observance of International Men’s Day 2018. International Men's Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated every year on November 19. It was founded by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, from Trinidad & Tobago in 1999 and today is observed in over 80 countries around the world. The theme for International Men's Day 2018 is 'Positive Male Role Models'. International Men’s Day is observed by persons from all walks of life, who support the ongoing effort to improve lives, heal scarred hearts, seek solutions to social problems, mend troubled minds, reform the social outcasts and uplift the dysfunctional. It is designed to promote positive role models in society and develop wholesome individuals. Such developments are badly needed in today’s wounded communities which reflect distorted and outdated beliefs and constant clashes among men, women and children which unravels the fabric of the family and the society. The spotlight has been placed on positive role models to raise awareness of men's health and well-being. "International Men's Day encourages men to teach the boys in their lives the values, character and responsibilities of being a man." ProjectMEN2020 today joins the global community in challenging the men of the nation, to be positive role models to the children and youths of the nation. Remnants from the trough will continue to generate a few showers tonight with an improvement anticipated as the night progresses. Saturday is forecast to be a fair day as this trough moves further north, out of the vicinity. On Sunday the Ridge of High Pressure will establish itself across the region creating an east - southeasterly wind flow. This wind flow pattern will generate moisture from the south. However, most of the shower activity is forecast to be offshore of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is on Monday, that this southerly flow coupled with a deep low to the north of the region will result in some showers and a few periods of light rain across SVG. Light to moderate winds will continue to move across the islands. Seas are to remain slight to moderate over the weekend, with deterioration on the eastern coast around Monday with swells peaking to 3.0 m. Meteorological Services. A New book is about to launch in sweet St. Vincent. 401 Vincy Caribbean proverbs was written by Vincentian "Teacher Morgan", owner and founder of Morgans’ Institute for Learning and Development (MILAD). Morgans’ Institute for Learning and Development (MILAD)was founded on 1st August 1992 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines by a young and proactive Vincentian bred school teacher known as Nigel Anthony Morgan. It was conceived out of the need at that time to give academic support to elementary school age students in the rural village who needed to pass the entrance examination to be admitted in Secondary school. The first class started with one school girl from a poor family. She excelled beyond everyone’s expectation in the entrance examination and was accepted in one of the top secondary schools in the country. This successful story quickly spread throughout the rural area. The next semester parents and teachers from other rural communities were seeking the private academic services of teacher Morgan to get their child into secondary school. Since then, the records reveal that each year, the percentage passes of his class was always 100%, with his students entering top schools. He soon became known as Teacher Nigel Morgan and his outstanding academic contributions prevailed throughout the island among all the schools. In time, parents and teachers also sought remedial reading classes for their children. He never turned any one down. His fees were minimal just to help people reach their destiny in life. Undoubtedly, throughout the years, countless students have passed through his hands successfully and are making their worthwhile contribution to society today. Since 2004 - the era of the National Education Revolution in St. Vincent and the Grenadines many adults have sought him privately for remedial reading classes and succeeded in mastery of the basic reading skills always. |
