In keeping with its renewed mandate to widen its scope of operations the SVG National Red Cross Society has undertaken the implementation of a climate change project. The project being “Reducing the Impacts to Climate Change Hazards in Vulnerable Communities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” is funded by UNDP, under the small grants programme.
The project will be piloted in five communities: Spring Village (Georgetown), Vermont, Buccament, Sharps (Chateaubelair) and South Rivers. These communities were selected based on assessment following the 2013 Christmas Eve floods, that rendered them most vulnerable. The objectives of the pilot project include the following:
